DESCRIPTION
The X9C103S is a digital potentiometer integrated circuit (IC) that can be used to digitally control resistance in electronic circuits. It is a 3-terminal device that uses non-volatile electrically erasable programmable read-only memory (EEPROM) to store its wiper position. The device has a total resistance of 10 kilo-ohms (kΩ) and has 100 tap points or steps, each of which corresponds to a specific resistance value.
The X9C103S has two modes of operation: Increment/Decrement (I/D) mode and Direct mode. In I/D mode, the potentiometer's resistance value can be incremented or decremented using two control pins, UP and DOWN, respectively. In Direct mode, the resistance value is set by sending a digital value to the IC via a 3-wire serial interface.
The X9C103S has a wide operating voltage range of 2.5 to 5.5 volts, making it suitable for use in a variety of electronic circuits. It also has a low standby current of less than 1 microampere (μA), which makes it ideal for low power applications.
