DESCRIPTION
The Flex Sensor is a resistive bend sensor that measures the amount of deflection or bending, making it a favourite among Singapore's maker community for wearable electronics, robotic joints, and DIY human-interface controllers. As the sensor flexes, its internal resistance increases in proportion to the bend angle, giving a simple analogue signal that microcontrollers such as Arduino and Raspberry Pi can read directly.
Its low-profile, solder-tab design makes it easy to integrate into gloves, prosthetics, and other compact IoT and robotics projects where a slim sensing element is needed.
FEATURES
- Resistance increases as the sensor bends, and returns to baseline as it flattens
- Flat resistance rising to at least 2x when bent to 180°
- Low-profile construction at just 0.43mm thick
- Solder tab connector for direct wiring or ribbon cable
- Rated for over 1 million bend cycles
- Wide operating temperature range of -35°C to +80°C
APPLICATIONS
- Wearable electronics and smart gloves
- Robotic joint and finger angle sensing
- Rehabilitation and motion-tracking devices
- DIY game controllers and human-interface projects
- Educational demonstrations of variable resistance
