DESCRIPTION

The 16-Key Push Button Module is a 4x4 matrix keypad built from sixteen tactile push buttons on a single PCB, giving your Arduino, ESP32 or Raspberry Pi project a compact numeric or function keypad. It is a popular choice for makers, students and school STEM labs building PIN-entry locks, menu controls and interactive games.

Because the buttons are wired as a row-and-column matrix, all 16 keys are read using just 8 GPIO pins, and the passive design works with both 3.3V and 5V logic boards.

FEATURES

  • 16 tactile push buttons arranged in a 4x4 matrix (labelled S1 to S16)
  • Row/column matrix wiring reads all 16 keys with only 8 GPIO pins
  • 8-pin male header labelled R1–R4 and C1–C4 for straightforward wiring
  • Passive design with no onboard ICs — compatible with 3.3V and 5V microcontrollers
  • Firm, clicky 6x6mm tactile switches for reliable key presses
  • Works with the standard Arduino Keypad library and similar matrix-scanning code

APPLICATIONS

  • PIN-code door locks and security access panels
  • Menu navigation and parameter entry for embedded projects
  • Calculators, counters and numeric input devices
  • Game controllers and interactive classroom STEM projects
  • Control panels for robots, IoT devices and home automation
