Speed & Encoder Sensors

Speed and encoder sensors measure the rotational velocity and angular position of motors and wheels, providing the feedback signal needed for closed-loop motor control, odometry, and navigation in mobile robots.

The range includes Hall effect speed sensors for measuring RPM from a magnet on a rotating shaft, optical slot encoders that count pulses from a slotted disc, and quadrature encoder modules for directional position tracking.

Speed and encoder sensors are used in Arduino and Raspberry Pi PID motor control, self-balancing robots, line-following robots requiring speed matching, robotic arm joint position feedback, odometry for autonomous navigation, 3D printer extruder monitoring, and any build where knowing exactly how fast or how far a motor has turned is essential.
